About
Public records, made easier to understand.
Who Pays My Doctor? is a free public-data website that helps patients and families understand reported financial relationships between U.S. healthcare professionals and drug or medical-device companies.
Why this site exists
CMS Open Payments, NPPES, and public Medicare prescribing data already exist, but they live in separate datasets and are difficult for a patient to connect safely. This site turns those public records into a doctor-centered summary while keeping the source, year, and limits close to each conclusion.
These records are a starting point for informed questions, not a verdict about a doctor.
What we do
- Use NPI as the preferred stable doctor identifier and show disambiguation context when names are similar.
- Summarize reported Open Payments by year, company, and payment category.
- Keep products explicitly named on payment records separate from drugs associated with a paying company.
- Compare public Medicare Part D data only when the evidence boundary supports the comparison.
- Show source releases, years, matching methods, and important limitations.
What we do not do
- We do not rate doctors, create conflict scores, or publish moral rankings.
- We do not determine whether a payment influenced prescribing or medical care.
- We do not provide personalized medical advice.
- We do not claim that Medicare Part D represents all of a doctor’s prescribing.
- We do not let a doctor or company pay to hide, change, or improve a public-data result.
Who operates this site
Who Pays My Doctor? is an independent public-data project. It is not an official CMS, Medicare, pharmaceutical-company, medical-device-company, or physician-rating website.
Questions about a possible data or matching error can be sent to hello@xylea.org or reported through the Corrections page.
Current data build
The site describes the source releases actually loaded into the current build rather than silently hard-coding a year.
